Balloon
Training Online - Tulle Covered Balloons
We've
recently filmed a new video showing you how to cover a balloon
with tulle. It looks like quite a simple display to make as it
is simply a balloon covered with light material with a few flowers
underneath to hide the knot.
However,
we've had dozens of people emailing us saying that after trying
several times they could not get the balloon to 'float'. The reason
for this is they were using the wrong sized balloon. The balloon
must be large so it has enough lift capacity for the weight of
the material. Tulle seems to be virtually weightless but this isn't
the case. For this display to float properly we recommend you use
either a 24 inch balloons or a 36 inch balloon. Personally, we
use the 24 inch balloons. Also (and this is very important) you
want to use the regular 24 inch latex balloons and NOT the 24 inch
deco bubbles (the plastic ones which feel like a beach ball).
Now
for the material to use. Standard organza/tulle which balloon decorators
use for displays like Cloud-9's is not wide enough. You need to
go to a fabric retailer to find a wider version. We use a material
from a local company which is 270cm wide which does the job perfectly.
The material is white tulle although our suppliers call it 'veil'.
Finally,
there are 4 artificial flowers at the bottom of the balloon which
finishes the display off perfectly. The video showing you exactly
how to make this display is currently being edited and will be
added to our video library shortly.
As ever,
please let me know if I can ever help you in any way.
